Canalfront Hospitality Program
The Canalfront Hospitality Program, including our new Welcome Center, is designed to welcome boaters and visitors to the Erie Canal port at the Village of Brockport with state-of-the-art facilities and service, like nowhere else on the canal.t.
The Welcome Center on the south bank between Park Avenue and Main Street was staffed again entirely by some 100 volunteers. Waterford has the only other such facility on the canal that uses only volunteers.

March 2010 - Brockport's Canalfront Welcome Center will open for its sixth season on May 1. It is staffed entirely by volunteers. "We would like to add a few more Greeters to our roster," says Bill Andrews, coordinator of volunteers. Most Greeters work one two-hour shift a week. However, others make themselves available as substitutes or handle shifts on less regular schedules. New Greeters are especially needed for weekend shifts. Andrews provides orientation sessions for new Greeters. Those interested may fill out a position interest form and submit to the Village Clerk.
Nov 2009 - Traffic at Brockport’s canalside Welcome Center during the 2009 season increased slightly over 2008. Boat/nights for boaters using the facilities numbered 539 this year, compared to 532 in 2008. Receipts from boaters’ fees and the sale of bags of ice rose from $4,951 to $5,307, a 7.2 percent increase. Traffic on the canal as a whole increased approximately 5 percent, according to the NYS Canal Corporation. Brockport’s bicycle lending program was very successful this season, as bicycles were lent out 477 times. No comparable statistic is available for 2008.
