Restorative Work on Historic Tower Clock Set to Begin:

In June of 1914, the Monroe County chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented to the Village of Brockport a tower clock that was placed on the steeple of the United Methodist Church at the corner of Erie and Main Streets. In recent years, the clock has fallen into disrepair. With state assistance obtained through Assemblyman Bill Reilich and with funds from the Village’s own Clock Restoration capital project, Brockport will contract with the American Tower Clock Company out of Rochester to perform much-needed restorative work – work that will include the evaluation, overhaul and reinstallation of all mechanical components.

Citing former Mayor Jim Stull as a catalyst behind getting the project off the ground, Mayor Mort Wexler championed the restoration work on the Clock commenting, “the voice of the Village was heard loud and clear. Residents said they wanted this historic clock to function once again, we as a Board listened, and with the Assemblyman’s support we were able to deliver.”

The project, slated to begin on February 22nd, is estimated to take 4-6 weeks.
