Brockport Board of Trustees Adopts $5.9 Million Budget;
Property Tax Rate Down, Water Rate Flat in Annual Spending Plan

At their April 7, 2008 meeting, after hearing no objections to the revised tentative budget during the public comment portion of the public hearing, the Village of Brockport Board of Trustees adopted the annual budget for fiscal year 2008-09. The budget protects existing Village services while continuing the Board’s commitment to the enhancement of public works, public safety, code enforcement, customer service and quality of life initiatives. It also reduces the property tax rate a full 27 cents, to $9.46 per $1000 of assessed value. Since 2006-07, the property tax rate in Brockport has been lowered 37 cents, nearly 4%. The tax levy, the amount the Village collects in taxes, will increase 4.3% due to assessment changes for properties in the Village. Water rates are unchanged.

The final budget is a balanced budget that keeps fund balances at appropriate levels, increases funding to capital reserves, and maintains the high quality of services the residents of Brockport have grown to expect from their municipal government.
