Adaptive Kayak Dock Dedication in Brockport – July 15th Event

The Village of Brockport announces the dedication of its new adaptive kayak dock at the Welcome Center, located at 11 Water St., the first such dock on the Erie Canal. The public is invited to the dedication and ribbon cutting on July 15, 2021. The celebration begins at 5:30pm with music by “She Sings,” and at 6pm the arrival of a flotilla of kayaks. Dignitaries from the Canal Corporation, Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, and Rochester Accessible Adventures will participate in the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony.

This is an official 1st Mile Canalway Challenge event. It is funded in part by Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, along with support provided by the NYS Canal Corporation, and Market New York through I LOVE NY, New York State’s Division of Tourism, as a part of the state’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative.

This short paddle is great for beginners. Bring your own kayak , canoe, or paddleboard or rent a kayak from the Erie Canal Boat Company which will be present for the celebration (reserve a kayak ahead at https://eriecanalboatcompany.com)

Registration is required to participate. The registration fee includes an event T-shirt. Proceeds from registration fees will go towards funding the boathouse to be built at Commissary Park.  Paddle map can be found here.  Sign-in begins at 4pm at Commissary Park, bring your personal flotation device and water craft (or get your reserved one) and be ready to launch at 5pm.
