The Laura Dubin Trio delights audiences with a unique style of music that spans all the eras of jazz and even blends modern jazz styles with classical music. A virtuoso pianist extensively trained in both the jazz and classical traditions, and well-versed in Latin and film music, Laura melds all of her musical loves into a seamless web of breathtaking creativity and adventurous exploration. She performs at 3:00 Sunday February 4 with Antonio H. Guerro on drums and Nick Parker on bass. The Winter Serenades series is presented by the Village of Brockport in historic St.Luke’s Episcopal Church at State and Main Streets. Funded by generous community donations, there is no charge to attend.
When you’re at a Laura Dubin Trio concert, you’ll hear Mozart steeped in the history of jazz piano; Beethoven welded with Great American Songbook gems; Ellington with Chopin; Debussy with Gershwin; Ravel with Rodgers & Hammerstein tinged with Latin; Cole Porter with Bill Evans – all reinvented, re-imagined and forged into very personal statements placed alongside Laura’s own singular compositions.
The Trio is also known for their themed concerts, such as tributes to Dave Brubeck, Horace Silver, Marian McPartland, Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers, the Clifford Brown/Max Roach Quintet, and Claude Bolling, and themes such as music from classic movies, jazz from different eras from the 1920s through 1960s, the complete West Side Story score, and many more.
The Laura Dubin Trio has released ten albums: Baroque and Blue: The Music of Claude Bolling (2023), Dear Marian: The Music of Marian McPartland (2023), Pieces of Paris (2020), Christmas with the Laura Dubin Trio (2019), Laura Dubin Trio Plays West Side Story (2019), Classical Jazz (2019), Rhapsody (2018), Live at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival (2016), Laura Dubin Plays the Great American Songbook (2015), and Introducing the Laura Dubin Trio (2013).
