Monroe County has announced the launch of a fully funded training program designed to develop the next generation of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and paramedics. Supported by $4.2 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, this initiative aims to eliminate financial and logistical barriers for those pursuing careers in emergency medical services (EMS).  The program, conducted in partnership with Monroe Community College, covers all essential costs, including tuition, books, supplies, certification fees, and wraparound services such as paid training time, transportation, child care, and academic support.  This strategic investment directly addresses the strain on the county’s emergency response system, ensuring communities have timely access to skilled first responders when they need them most. By expanding the EMS workforce and removing barriers to entry, this program represents a smart, community-focused commitment to public safety.  Monroe County is actively recruiting candidates for this opportunity, making it an ideal time for those passionate about public service to begin their careers in EMS.
