During the 2025-26 budget development process the staffing pattern of the Department of Public Works indicated that 30% of the department’s work spent on sanitary sewers of the village.  This means that the costs of this proportion of the department staffing, and associated costs, must be reflected under the expenses of the sewer fund.  Per NYS, Sewer Funds must be self-supporting (no tax dollars utilized).  Recognizing that sewer is a fixed infrastructure that is impacted by consumption, the fees associated with the service will reflect both.  A fixed fee, called a Sewer Share, will be assessed on each water bill to account for the maintenance of the infrastructure that connects each unit to the sewer system.  Consumption rates will remain unchanged at this time.  Each water account has a Sewer Share associated with it and the fee is based on the type of property, billing cycle, and consumption rate.

Type of property & SS per Bill

Typical Residential: $43.75

OOD* Sewer Only (VoB Taxpayer): $43.75

OOD* Sewer Only (Non-taxpayer): $56.25

High Consumption Residential $125

Monthly Billed Account: $100

High Consumption OOD* Sewer Only (Commercial): $375

*OOD=Water accounts are Monroe County Water Authority, but sanitary sewer is provided by Village of Brockport.

This change was introduced in a public workshop on March 24 and explained in the April 7 public hearing and subsequently unanimously approved by the Village Board with the 2025-2026 budget on April 21 and again with the approval of an updated Fee Schedule on May 5.
