Background Checks

Due to the complexity, legality, and liability associated with “background checks,” the Brockport Police Department will no longer conduct individual work related background checks for private citizens.  Those requests originated by official governmental entities for law enforcement or military background checks will still be honored through previously established processes with those agencies.

It is suggested that any individual needing a background check proceed to the local criminal court within the jurisdiction you wish the check to occur.  There you should request a certified record of arrest and disposition from that court.  For the Village of Brockport all records of arrest and conviction would be recorded by the Brockport Village Court located at 49 State St. and the Sweden Town Court located at 18 State St., Brockport, N.Y. 14420.
