Background Checks

Due to the complexity, legality, and liability associated with “background checks,” the Brockport Police Department will no longer conduct individual work related background checks for private citizens.  Those requests originated by official governmental entities for law enforcement or military background checks will still be honored through previously established processes with those agencies.

It is suggested that any individual needing a background check proceed to the local criminal court within the jurisdiction you wish the check to occur.  There you should request a certified record of arrest and disposition from that court.  For the Village of Brockport all records of arrest and conviction would be recorded by the Brockport Village Court located at 49 State St. and the Sweden Town Court located at 18 State St., Brockport, N.Y. 14420.

As your Chief of Police, I am honored and privileged to serve this community. I sincerely appreciate the support and confidence that has been extended to me by the elected officials, the members of the Brockport Police Department and most importantly the residents of the Village of Brockport.

The Brockport Police Department strongly believes in the community policing model. We believe that a solid foundation is built by forming trusting relationships with our residents, business owners and those who visit our village. We want people to feel comfortable with and trust our police officers. Strong community partnerships will enhance the quality of life to all who reside in and visit our village.

Our Mission Statement emphasizes our drive for excellence by dedication and commitment. It is our goal that we treat all that with whom we interact with respect and ultimately treat them in the same manner that we would want to be treated.

I am very proud of our police department. I believe you will find us friendly, courteous and helpful.
