Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting - January 6, 2022

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Zoning Board of Appeals of the Village of Brockport will hold a PUBLIC HEARING on Thursday, January 6, 2022 beginning at 6:00pm via Zoom.

The topic of discussion will be an applicant who seeks an area variance to install 8 EV charging Units.

Holiday Village Office Closures

December 20, 2021

The Village Offices at 127 Main Street will be close at 12:30pm on Thursday, December 23.  The office will re-open on Monday, December 27, at 8:30am.

DPW and Village Court will be closed Friday, December 24.

Windstorm Cleanup and Stump Grinding

December 17, 2021

The Department of Public Works would like to thank the residents for getting their brush to the curb in a timely manner. We will continue into next week to pick up the cleanup from the windstorm. If you see flags by tree stumps, near or around your house, we are also out stump grinding. Final restoration work will be done in the spring.

Travel Ban / Power Lines & Trees Down

December 12, 2021

Many power lines, telephone poles and trees are down in the village.  Please stay indoors and do not travel unless absolutely necessary.  Many are completely closed to travel.  Parts of College, Utica, Fayette, Quary, and North Main Streets, and Park Ave have been affected.

We have extra DPW workers and police officers on duty working hard to assist our residents at this time.  In many cases, we are dependent on National Grid to clear lines from roads and properties.

Monroe County has issued a travel ban due to the power outages and downed lines and trees.  Traffic lights are out -- if you need to be out please treat these intersections as four way stops.

High Wind Warning 1pm-11pm Saturday, December 11

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for our area.

Included in this warning is the following statement:

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around
trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of
your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if
you must drive.

New Statewide Mask Mandate In Effect Monday, December 13

December 10, 2021

Effective December 13, New York State mandates masks to be required to be worn in all indoor public places unless businesses or venues implement a vaccine requirement.

This measure is effective Dec. 13, 2021 until Jan. 15, 2022, after which the State will re-evaluate based on current conditions

Cannabis Vote from 12/6/21 Village Board Meeting

The majority vote of the Village Board of Trustees taken December 6, 2021 at their regularly scheduled board meeting was to remain opt-ed into cannabis retail and consumption establishments.

Unapproved minutes will be posted with the Dec. 20 board agenda. Approved minutes will be posted shortly after that date. We hope the agenda/minutes section of our website will be up and running again by that time.

Please note the Village Board meeting for Dec. 20 will be fully on Zoom for the board and members of the public.

Free Covid Test Kit Distribution

December 8, 2021

Free COVID test kits provided by Monroe County and distributed by the Town of Sweden will be available on Saturday, December 11 from 2-4pm at Town Hall’s rear parking lot (18 State Street) and at Sweden Clarkson Community Center parking lot (4927 Lake Road South).

Residents will be asked to remain in their vehicles (this is a drive through operation) and show a government ID or utility bill as proof of residency. Tests are only available to residents of Sweden, including Village of Brockport; one test kit will be provided per adult.



Building and Code Enforcement Office Temporarily Closed

The Building and Code Enforcement office is closed until Monday, December 20. No in-person services are available. Thank you for your patience as phone calls and emails are addressed by the staff as they are able. We appreciate your understanding in this matter and apologize for any inconvenience it may cause.

Temporary Street Closure Notice - Sunday December 5 from 4-7pm

 Residents and businesses –

Please note the following temporary street closure approved by the Village and by NYS DOT:

- 4pm-7pm (parade starts at 5pm) Sunday, 12/5/21 – Stetson Club Holiday of Lights Parade
- Route: from North Main Street to Main Street  (closed from traffic circle/roundabout to 5 corners at Adams Street)

Closures will be marked with barricades and motorists detoured.

Updated Monroe County COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Testing Sites

Monroe County announced COVID-19 Rapid Antigen testing sites open to the general public.

  • Tests are free of charge.
  • No appointment required.
  • No health insurance required.

Monroe County, NY uses the BinaxNOW COVID-19 Rapid Antigen tests across all of its COVID-19 testing locations.

Fireworks Scheduled For December 5

Fireworks will be displayed in the Village of Brockport on Sunday December 5 immediately following the Holiday Lights Spectacular and Parade.  The fireworks display is sponsored by Sunnking and will be launched from the grassy area between the two lift bridges (behind 22 Main Street).

The Department of Public Works will remove the Adaptive Kayak Launch by Wednesday, November 24th for the 2021 kayak season.

We will reinstall in the Spring.

Thanksgiving Holiday Closures

Village Office, at 127 Main Street, will close Wednesday, November 24 at 12:30pm and will re-open Monday, November 28 at 8:30am

DPW will be closed Thursday, Nobember 25.

Leaf Pickup Until Dec 10th

The Village will continue to pick up leaves through Friday, Decemer 10th or until the first heavy snow fall (whichever is first).  Please do not bag your leaves or add other debris to your pile.  Please pile your leaves at the edge of the property, do not put your leaves in the street.  Walk ways, streets, and storm sewers should remain as clear as possible.

Fireworks Permit Granted for December 5

As part of the proceedings of the Village Board Meeting on November 15, a permit for a fireworks display was granted as the finale to Brockport's Holiday Light Spectacular and Parade.  The fireworks are sponsored by Sunnking.  They will commence immediately following the lighting of the village tree at the end of the 5pm parade.
