You may have noticed that draining of the canal is underway. It is down about 4 feet today (12/5/23), with another 6-7 feet to go. Per the Canal Corp It will be down to winter levels in another 7 to 8 days.
Upcoming Water Street Parking Closures
Parking spaces closest to the Welcome Center on Water Street and in the Water Street lot will be closed on Thursday afternoon and Friday to allow for equipment to access some necessary repairs at the Welcome Center.

Volunteers are needed to help plant!!!!
A new pollinator garden is being planted at Corbett Park’s canalside on June 3. The garden was designed by Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteers. It includes native, pollinator-friendly plants that are approved by the Canal Corporation Earthen Embankmnet Integrity Program. The garden will help sustain the healthy ecosystems that purify our air and clean our water. Please join the Canal Corporation in our commitment to supporting the native biodiversity of New York. The NY Power Authority’s Sustainability Team and Reimagine the Canals initiative will provide all needed planting supplies. Sign up by May 15 to be registered to receive a FREE T-SHIRT and FREE LUNCH. Email should include your name and t-shirt size. Please register at Sustainability@nypa.gov Please remember to wear planting-friendly clothes and shoes and to bring a reusable water bottle for refills. The group will meeting in front of Corbett Park at 9am and the event is expected to finish by 1pm. Families are welcome to attend!
