The Village Court is responsible to the electorate for carrying out the functions of this office as defined by State Law. Judges conduct court sessions and hear civil and criminal cases brought before the Justice Court. They hold arraignments, execute information, and issue warrants for arrest; in addition to instructing juries. They render decisions in non-jury cases; sentence criminals and impose fines. Maintaining order in the courtroom at all times is paramount. Judges oversee the administrative, stenographic, and clerical work performed by the courts’ clerical staff.
Court is held: on the first four Fridays; Staff may be tied up with other Court matters, however, will assist customers as time permits. There are times when you may be requested to return another day to handle your inquiry.
Bench Trials: are scheduled by the Justice Court upon request of the party or defense counsel.
Small Claims Matters: Call the court or stop in for the dates and times.
Evictions and Summary Proceedings: are currently being heard; filings may be made in Brockport Village Court by you or your attorney.
Village Code and Parking Violation Matters: are heard monthly at 10:00 am. Call the court for the date.
Payments of Fines and Surcharges: must be in the form of cash, money order, or credit card. Mastercard and Visa are accepted. There is a 2.99% fee assessed by the company that processes credit cards.
All payments can be made online at www.govpaynow.com. On-line payments are subject to the same processing fee as credit cards.
